ICAO PBN/RNAV-RNP Codes

The tables below describe entries that are made in Field 18 (Other Information) on the ICAO format FAA Flight Plan (FAA Form 7233-4).


*Note: Please reference your navigator and transponder's Aircraft Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS) for details on which codes apply to your avionics.  For integrated flight decks please consult your OEM. 


ICAO PBN/RNAV-RNP (part of Field 18) Operators should file their maximum capabilities in order to qualify for the most advanced procedures. Select a maximum of eight entries to follow PBN/

TERMINAL PHASE

RNP 1 All Sensors

Area navigation using all available sensors. Able to calculate position w/in 2 NM radius at least 95% of the time. RNP adds to RNAV accuracy by requiring onboard navigation performance monitoring and alerting.

RNP 1 GNSS (GPS)

APPROACH PHASE

RNP Approach

S1

GNSS (GPS) is the primary navigation system to support RNP APCH procedures. Allows approaches with vertical guidance using GPS.

RNP Approach with Baro VNAV

S2

GNSS (GPS) is the primary navigation system to support RNP APCH procedures. Allows approaches with vertical guidance using barometric, vertical navigation (Baro-VNAV).

RNP Approach with Radius to Fix (authorization required)

T1

Special Authorization Required. GNSS (GPS) provides primary infrastructure. Allows reduced clearance, curved paths, and precise missed approach guidance.

RNP Approach without Radius to Fix (authorization required)

T2

Special Authorization Required. GNSS (GPS) provides primary infrastructure.

Enter REG/##### if operating in RVSM airspace. Otherwise, enter registration markings if different from that specified in Identifier field.

SELCAL

SEL/

SELCAL code assigned to the aircraft.

Type of Aircraft

TYP/

Used if not specified in the Type field.

Mode S Code

CODE/

This is the aircraft Mode S code [base 16 / hex] obtained from the FAA Aircraft Registration database.

Status

STS/

Reason for special handling. See AFM (page 5-1-24) for list of codes.

Departure Airport

DEP/

When departing an airport with no ICAO code, enter ZZZZ for Departure Aerodrome and DEP/CODE (e.g. 2S7) in Field 18.

Destination

DEST/

When the destination is an airport with no ICAO code, enter ZZZZ for Destination Aerodrome and DEST/CODE (e.g. 2S7) in Field 18.

Alternate Airport

ALTN/

When the alternate airport is an airport with no ICAO code, enter ZZZZ for ALTN Aerodrome and ALTN/CODE (e.g. 2S7) in Field 18.
